Yadavrao Tasgaonkar Polytechnic (YTP) is a diploma-level technical institute at Bhivpuri Road, Karjat, in Maharashtra's Raigad district, established in 2008 under the Saraswati Education Society. Affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) and recognised by AICTE and the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE Code 3282), YTP offers three-year diploma programmes in Computer, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Information Technology engineering. With modern laboratories, well-equipped workshops, a dedicated training and placement cell and an industry-experienced faculty, the polytechnic prepares students for both immediate employment and lateral entry into degree engineering.
Yadavrao Tasgaonkar Polytechnic was established in 2008 by Dr. Nandkumar Y. Tasgaonkar under the aegis of the Saraswati Education Society, and has since grown into one of the most trusted diploma engineering institutes in the Karjat region of Raigad district. Set within the sprawling Tasgaonkar Group of Institutes campus near Bhivpuri Road railway station, the polytechnic combines an accessible rural-Mumbai location with the academic standards of a fully recognised technical institution.
The institute is affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) and is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as well as the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra, under DTE Code 3282. This recognition ensures that every diploma awarded by YTP carries statewide and national credibility, opening doors to both employment and further study under the Maharashtra centralized admission framework.
YTP offers three-year, full-time Diploma in Engineering programmes across Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, supported by a strong Applied Science, Mathematics and Humanities department that builds the scientific foundations students rely on throughout their studies. Each branch is taught through a blend of theory and intensive practical work, aligning the curriculum with the real needs of industry.
The campus is equipped with modern laboratories, fully fitted workshops and well-appointed classrooms. Mechanical workshops cover smithy, carpentry, welding and machine tools, while branch-specific laboratories give students hands-on exposure to live engineering processes. A central library holding more than 13,000 books, e-journals, e-books and access to NPTEL, DELNET and the National Digital Library of India rounds out the academic infrastructure.
A dedicated training and placement cell, backed by strong corporate connections, supports students as they move from classroom to career. Graduates of YTP pursue opportunities across private industry and government, while many choose to continue into degree engineering through the direct second-year lateral-entry pathway that the diploma qualification unlocks.
Beyond academics, YTP fosters all-round development through co-curricular activities, sports and cultural programmes, an active student council, scholarship programmes, an alumni network and a structured grievance redressal mechanism. Operating as one of ten institutions run by the Saraswati Education Society, a public charitable trust founded by Dr. Nandkumar Y.
