Sau. Vandana N. Tasgaonkar Ayurved Mahavidyalaya & Research Centre (VTAM) is an Ayurvedic medical college at Karjat in Raigad district, Maharashtra, established in 2024 under the Saraswati Education Society. Offering the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree, the college is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, recognized by the Government of Maharashtra, and approved by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) under reference AYU0871. With fourteen specialised Ayurvedic departments and the attached 100-bed Jeevak Ayurved Rugnalaya, VTAM blends classical Ayurvedic wisdom with evidence-based modern healthcare practice.
Sau. Vandana N. Tasgaonkar Ayurved Mahavidyalaya & Research Centre, popularly known as VTAM, is one of the newest additions to the Dr. N. Y. Tasgaonkar Educational Complex at Bhivpuri Road, Karjat, in Maharashtra's Raigad district. Founded in 2024 under the umbrella of the Saraswati Education Society, the college was named in honour of Sau. Vandana N. Tasgaonkar and was established to carry forward the trust's mission of meaningful, research-driven education into the field of traditional Indian medicine. It received its permission to begin instruction for the 2024 academic session under NCISM reference AYU0871.
The college offers the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) — a 5.5-year professional medical degree comprising 4.5 years of structured coursework followed by a one-year compulsory rotatory internship. The programme grounds students in the ancient science of Ayurveda while equipping them with the clinical reasoning, diagnostic discipline, and practical skills required to practise confidently in a contemporary healthcare environment.
